Thursday's Preview Performance Cancelled

Well, a tough decision but I had to take it. Tonight’s opening preview of The Secret Garden is cancelled. Ever since the truck carrying our set slid sideways down South College Street we have been racing to catch up. But with the snow causing major technical hold-ups, and our costumes still stuck in a depot in Livingston we have been unable to complete a full technical rehearsal so I had to muse on just how sensible it was to proceed with this evening’s performance. Although everyone involved has been working around the clock, I’ve had to decide that the best, most productive and kindest way of getting the show performance-ready is to cancel tonight’s preview as a result of these unforeseeable hold-ups. It’s snow laughing matter!

Day two of the technical rehearsal is underway – without most of the costumes! Some brave soul has just driven through the snow from Bournemouth with a car load of costumes, but others are stuck in delivery depots and nobody seems to know where or indeed when they might reach us. Thursday’s opening is approaching fast so Jackie, our wonderful Costume Supervisor, is laying down contingency plans with her chums in the wardrobe at Scottish Opera to provide emergency costumes if the real ones don’t arrive.
