An Edinburgh Preview

Getting a slightly warped preview of Edinburgh as I am currently up here at the Fringe Festival with The Emperor’s Quest, a lovely funny children’s musical which is getting 5* reviews (plus, my composer friend has just been shortlisted for an MTM Award for the show too!! Hope you can come see it at C Venue.

This is my first experience of Edinburgh and the Fringe – it is frantic, frenetic and disorganised but amazing! Still, I can’t wait to be back up here at Christmas for The Secret Garden – I hope there will be less rain (!?) and more snow… and I am looking forward to experiencing Edinburgh more at its natural rhythm. Siobhan Redmond and Norman Pace join the cast

Siobhan is renowned for hard-hitting TV roles in shows such as Holby City and The Bill, as well as her recent stage appearance for the National Theatre of Scotland in The House of Bernarda Alba. More talented 'Marys' are discovered!

With 39 performances at the Festival Theatre Edinburgh, before a six-week Canadian Tour in Toronto, The Secret Garden musical is a huge undertaking for even the most seasoned professionals, but for the young performers who play the child parts of Mary and Colin the comittment is even bigger. The long working hours will be split between two children in each role of Mary and Colin, with a third child on hand as an understudy for each part.
